Silliness Before the Seriousness

Can you guess who is married and who is still single? Fooled you right? This picture was taken BEFORE Mandy and Philip tied the knot. Everyone is smiling - what a night!

The grimace on Uncle Scott's face is because he thinks the Air Force is the premier branch of service AND he's in competition with his brother Mark over who takes the best pictures. His beautiful bride Judy is simply enjoying the evening at the rehearsal dinner. She's all right.

Mark & Christine's close and long-time friends, Larry and Candy Warkentin, made the trip from Las Vegas, where they now live, having relocated from Hilo, Hawaii. Larry was an Elder on the church board that Mark pastored in Hilo, and they were friends for years before that. The kids still refer to them as Uncle Larry and Auntie Candy. Here's Larry meeting some of our Columbia, SC friends while Christine's nephew Rich Patrizio, Jr., helps himself to some SC low-country shrimp-n-grits.

Hey, this picture says it all, doesn't it? Mandy LOVES her Mom, but there is certainly something special about a father-daughter relationship, especially the day before she marries. Jeff is thinking, "Thank goodness Philip will pay the bills from now on!" Christie is wondering how she'll make it without her.

Uncle Scott is sitting next to Katie Fleniken, Columbia, SC, who just happens to see "something" in our son Joel. They've been kinda-sorta hanging out together for a couple years now. She's at Converse College while Joel attends Clemson. The hour drive between the two schools is well worn with tire treads from both of their cars. We think (hope) Scott is covering up so she doesn't think that he's part of the Nordstrom clan. Don't want Katie to have second thoughts about Joel's family. Thanks Scott.

But then along comes Judy, Scott's wife, to fill in Katie on all the dirt. She knows all the brothers too well and is passing along family secrets, no doubt, to unauthorized personnel. Don't believe her, Katie!

Three sisters and a brother. Should be the title to a movie, huh? Here's Christine with her sisters Caroline (next to her, from AZ) and Elizabeth and then her brother Rich, both from NY.

The family really enjoyed each other during this visit. Weddings with the Patrizio clan are always the BEST excuse to take off work and re-establish what they really like about each other: a family that sticks together through thick and thin. And they have a lot of fun doing it.

The proud grandparents, Mario and Eileen Patrizio, from NY and AZ - they normally spend the winters in AZ, where they stay active: walking, reading and visiting their children and grandchildren and now, the first great grandchild, born recently to Sabrina in Mesa, AZ.

Here's Jim and Christine's Aunt Nora, from Florida.

Christine's niece Lindsay, from NY, and Christine's good friend from our Columbia days, Kathleen and her daughter Micah Ann seem to be enjoying themselves at the reception!! Kathleen is dramatically falling out of her chair and is about to drop beneath the table!

Shrimp and what? Elizabeth and Christine finish their shrimp-n-grits, a South Carolina favorite. North meets south and enjoys this specialty.

Both grandparents received very nice pictures, and nicely framed, of their newest entries in the grandchild sweepstakes. Mario and Eileen are way ahead at fifteen. Jeff and Christie will have to play catch-up.

Who is next? Mark and Angela! Wedding bells will ring again on March 8, 2008 in Beaufort, SC. So save the date for the next wedding: Nordstrom/Rhodes.
